The Claim
The mayoral campaign repeatedly announced cumulative fundraising milestones: $425,555 by March 10, 2025; nearly $100,000 in two weeks on top of more than $400,000 previously raised by July 2; more than $750,000 by October 2; and more than $1 million by January 13, 2026.
Why It Appeals
Fundraising totals are used as evidence of breadth, momentum, organizational strength, and public trust. Small-donor participation can be meaningful evidence of political support when the metric is defined consistently.
The Record
The closest subsequent City filings report cumulative monetary contributions of $200,845.82 through March 31, 2025; $269,988.96 through June 30, 2025; $414,086.34 through September 30, 2025; and $611,441.89 through March 31, 2026. Those figures do not match the campaign announcements on their face. The proposed historical pattern does not hold on the reviewed 2018 claim: the state activity table reports $450,403.68 monetary plus $110,501.62 in-kind, or $560,905.30 combined, consistent with the campaign's statement that it raised more than $500,000.
Claim-to-filing comparison
The public totals do not reconcile on their face.
Campaign announcements and filed cumulative monetary contributions may use different definitions. Each row remains unresolved until the included accounts and adjustments are identified.

The Missing Context
The current campaign releases do not identify every included account, whether in-kind value or pledges are counted, whether recurring commitments are projected, or whether the figures are gross or net of refunds. The City field is explicitly cumulative monetary contributions, so the two public labels may not measure the same thing. The reviewed portal list did not display a Q4 2025 report; this investigation does not characterize that observation as a failure to file. Audit and fine document titles in prior state accounts also do not establish prior fundraising inflation without review of their substance and disposition.
What the Mayor's Job Requires
A mayor must present budgets, revenues, costs, grants, and performance measures in definitions that Council and residents can reproduce. Campaign financial messaging is not municipal administration, but a material, unexplained difference between public totals and filed totals is a relevant test of financial clarity and correction practice.
The Uncomfortable Conclusion
The four current-cycle fundraising claims are materially unreconciled with the reviewed City cumulative monetary totals. That is a documented discrepancy requiring a definition and accounting; it is not proof of intentional inflation or a legal violation. The reviewed 2018 record is favorable counterevidence to the claim that the same discrepancy had already occurred there.
What Would Change This Assessment
A transaction-level reconciliation identifying every included account, contribution type, in-kind amount, pledge or recurring commitment, refund, transfer, and gross-versus-net rule would resolve the comparison. Any amended filing or campaign correction should be dated and linked to the affected row.
The Question
For each public fundraising total, what accounts, contribution types, in-kind value, pledges, recurring commitments, refunds, and gross-versus-net rules were included, and how can the public reproduce that total from filed reports?
Evidence and Counterevidence

Open the complete source-bound evidence used for this finding.
Evidence supporting the finding
Four original campaign releases establish the public fundraising milestones and the campaign's small-donor framing.
The official City portal filings establish the subsequent cumulative monetary contribution totals used in each comparison.
Evidence that qualifies the finding
The official 2017-2018 state activity table supports the historical greater-than-$500,000 claim when monetary and in-kind contributions are combined.
The City reports label their cumulative field as monetary contributions; the current campaign releases may be using a broader, presently undefined metric.
